The special long duration testing program for the “Albacora Leste” subsea control umbilical has been concluded. This testing program was performed at “LEME – Laboratório de Equipamentos Mecânicos e Estruturas”, the laboratory of mechanical equipments and strutures of the Institute of Technological Research of the State of S. Paulo, in a test rig specially adapted by Makai Engineering Services to meet all project requirements, and basically consisted of subjecting the umbilical sample assembly to a series of 2 million dynamical cycles of flexure and axial pull, combined with the simulation of the vortex induced vibrations.
